Peppers Retreat, Canberra

IMG_0036.PNGNew Acton is home to Peppers Retreat. It has a unique charm, and is truely an amazing boutique hotel in the nations capital.

The rooms have luxury linnen and smart technology. There’s a sculpture garden and wall hangings in the corridors that make it feel like a home away from home.

The boutique accommodation also has a great restaurant Bicicletta and is walking distance to Lake Burley Griffin, Soma Day Spa and Mocan and Green Grout Cafe’.

A sculpture garden spills into the foyer of the historic building, and with lush green trees surrounding and manicured hedges its a true luxury in a cultural precinct.

Canberra’s most delicious desserts

If you’re a sweet tooth like me well your going to love what Canberra has to offer. There’s special spots for those who have a sweet tooth like me. Canberra Start Up Bombolini doughnuts is the most amazing doughnuts I’ve ever had. Its packed with flavour and with its punch, you’ll be going back for more.

I try not to have these naughties too often, but sometime I can’t resist. The dough is homemade along with the custard which is made by using free range eggs! They have different flavours to choose from like madagascan vanilla and dark chocolate (my favourite).

They do sell out fast, so you might want to get in quick. You can find Bombolini at the Capital Region Farmers Markets and the Southside Farmers Markets in Canberra.

Walt & Burley, Kingston Foreshore

This is a scrumptious chicken breast atop a pearl and barley salad and you can pair it with a glass of organic Chardonnay and this is sure to be a winner.

If you’re thinking about your next engagement party or birthday then you might want to have a look at their packages.

Pop-up village, The Hamlet

I definitely love a pop-up bar and they are popping up everywhere in Canberra. The Hamlet in Braddon is my favourite because it has great food and fun culture. It’s certainly one of my favourite places to grab a bite to eat in Canberra.

The Hamlet, is like an urban village, with it’s trendy and cool vibe and unique street food it’s one place you’ll have stop by. If you love a pho like me, you’ll have to try What the pho!!

Screen Shot 2017-06-08 at 10.09.36 am

What the Pho!! has the best pho in Canberra! I go always go for a pho and my fiance’ tends to go for a Bahn Mi with extra chilli and we love it. We were at The Hamlet a week ago, there’s pop-up wine and beer bar, there’s chanchito, and American style food. When you’re in Braddon next, you”ll have to give it a try. I promise that it won’t disappoint.

Handmade market

If you love markets, well you won’t want to miss out on The Handmade Market held in Canberra’s exhibition park this weekend.

The Handmade Market leads the way in homewares, fashion and food and attracts 30,000 people with many travelling to visit the Handmade markets.

It really has such a great atmosphere with amazing food stalls, live music. Grab yourself a coffee or a bite to eat then stroll through homewares, accessories (my favourite) and treat yourself to some new handcrafted items. I must admit I have a soy candle obsession at the moment, so lets see how many candles I bring home this weekend from Goulburn’s Lush Soy Candles!

Shopping in Canberra’s CBD

image.pngNow if you don’t know me already, I absolutely love a sale. I don’t mind paying for things that are full price but when you find something you’ve wanted on sale it really gives you a buzz! I decided to do some shopping in Canberra city and you might be surprised as to how many things were on sale.

I do like to buy a season ahead if I can, or purchase sale items for next year (winter). Now I know it might not be the latest fashion but you could save a few hundred dollars just by doing this!

Here are my weekend finds from Canberra centre.

I stopped by David Jones and found this amazing dress from Camilla.

A stunning long sleeve black dress that you would wear to the office and then go off to an evening function. For daywear, I would wear this with a pair of black patent flats from Witchery.

These ballet flats are my favourite as they really dress up any outfit. You can wear them to work or wear them out shopping for comfort and style. A real versatile shoe and a must have in any shoe wardrobe.

For a more casual look, Portmans has some amazing clothes out and there sizes are quite generous. I went and bought an amazing puffer vest.

Country Road also have amazing daywear. Try these amazing white jeans. They are super comfy and a must have this season. Their sizes are generous too so you do feel good when you try them on.

and of course a stripe top is vital for any wardrobe. It really adds something, tell me what you think?

New Acton Community Garden

When we moved here in 2014, I wanted to make sure that we had a lifestyle change, instead of Sydney’s hustle and bustle. I spent a lot of time commuting to work, and less time in the sunshine.

Since moving to Canberra, I now appreciate the little things, like this amazing community garden hidden in New Action, Canberra. The garden is nestled in New Acton and has a wide variety of vegetables including Rocket, Lettuce and Spinach.

If you have some gardening inspiration, let me know as I’d love to build my own garden.

Secret wedding locations

I’ve been on the hunt for Canberra’s most intimate wedding locations and I’ve found a few areas that I think you’ll love too.

When we got engaged in 2015, we thought it was going to be easy to plan a wedding, but with both of our families in different locations it made that a little bit more difficult. I’ve been searching far and wide but I’ve realised that there are amazing wedding ceremony locations here in Canberra and they are stunning especially if your thinking about an outdoor wedding ceremony.

Ian Potter House, with it’s rustic charm and romantic outdoor area, this place is absolutely stunning. If we don’t get married there, an engagement shoot my be the way to go.

Parlour Wine Room, is located in New Acton. I would recommend Parlour for a reception, cocktail stand-up or a sit down meal would be just as lovely.

The Australian National University, is home to lots of uni students, but they do have a lovely area for an intimate ceremony and reception.

Tea for two

image.jpeg

I’m very much a tea enthusiast and I don’t drink coffee anymore. When I was in Sydney, I used to drink around 3-4 cups of coffee a day and I wouldn’t be able to function until I had a cup when I woke up. Well I’m proud to say that I kicked that habit in November 2015.

After we got engaged, we did a trip to the US, it was amazing and I asked for chai latte at the airport in Chicago, the lady looked at me made my chai then called my name, ‘Teresa’. I took my first sip and she had made me a large latte on vanilla soy.

It was delicious, so tasty but I started to get sweaty palms, my heart started racing and I thought ok… no more coffee for me and that was in November 2015.

I do love the smell of coffee, but I’ve realised that I’m so much more calmer without it. Recently, someone mentioned to me The Tea House and I highly recommend it. We brought our puppy so we sat outside in the outdoor area. I had a chocolate chai tea and my fiance’ had a earl grey – we sort of shared and tried so we didn’t get to miss out on another flavour. The scones were quite big and the jam and cream was delicious as well.

It’s a great place for a baby shower or a girls lunch as they have a function room upstairs.

I highly recommend visiting The Tea House, they’re located in Gold Creek.
